Karen Strassman is an actress, voice-over artist and dialect coach, known the world over for hundreds of characters she has created in many forms. She enjoys crafting characters that touch the human spirit and mirror the beauty, quirkiness, challenging realities and exquisiteness of the world we live in.
Whether on-camera or behind a mic, Karen is extremely versatile. Recently seen guest-starring opposite David Arquette in the new CREEPSHOW, plays recurring characters: D.D.A. Laura Tribe in BOSCH, devious German scientist Dr. Lois Slotnick in PREACHER, cutthroat Hooli Lead Lawyer in SILICON VALLEY. She has played roles as varied as the brilliant and empathic scientist Devra Bogdanovich in INGRESS, a dying immigrant from Northern Ireland, doctors and lawyers, the quirky bookish OCD accountant on WEEDS, to a killer’s trailer trash mother on CRIMINAL MINDS.
Upcoming roles include an appearance on PENNY DREADFUL, HOMECOMING, GONE HOLLYWOOD and a lead in the long awaited release of Director Tom Six’s highly anticipated daring movie, THE ONANIA CLUB.
Recent onstage appearances include THE BASIC TRAINING OF PAVLO HUMMEL opposite Al Pacino and a lead in the new play SLAP, KISS, KILL, headed for the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2021.
Karen also does a lot of motion capture work. Two recent iconic roles include the overburdened French military mechanic Maria Laurent in WOLFENSTEIN II and the disturbed doctor Annette Birkin in RESIDENT EVIL 2, she is known for creating unique and powerful characters.
Having created hundreds of voice-over characters of all shapes, sizes, genders, ages, and species, from classic Disney princesses to iconic villainesses, from withered old ladies to teenage boys and realistic little girls, to talking jellyfish, and shy tadpoles... She even revoiced a real parrot (the producers ended up keeping her version, deciding it was more "realistic" than the real parrot itself). Karen’s range of characters spans the voiceover world of cartoons, animation and video games; from the teenage rockstar Catty Noire on MONSTER HIGH, the beloved little girl Olivia on LEGO FRIENDS, sexy Rouge the Bat in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, Chromie, the charismatic gnome that turns into a dragon from WORLD OF WARCRAFT and HEROES OF THE STORM, to the iconic Mileena & Kitana in MORTAL KOMBAT & the wildly aggressive Poison in STREET FIGHTER. And then there are projects like LEAGUE OF LEGENDS, where she plays five roles, fifteen roles in FINAL FANTASY and the Nicktoons series, MONSUNO, voiced by an ensemble cast of five actors, where Karen not only played the teenage female lead, Jinja, but she also voiced every other female character in all three seasons of the show (last count there were 26 characters).
Outside of acting, Strassman continues to share her expertise as a dialect coach, recently coaching on shows such as CASTLE ROCK, BARKSKINS, and JACK RYAN. She’s also been casting and directing voiceover projects as well as teaching voiceover and dialect workshops around the country.
Karen has dual American/French nationality. She spent almost half her life in France and is fluent in French (although she's also worked in German, Spanish, Danish, Italian and Yucatec!). In France, Karen studied acting at the prestigious Conservatoire National Superieur d’Art Dramatique in Paris, and also began her dialect coaching career there, teaching classes at the well-known STUDIO VO/VF and coaching famous French actors in their homes and on-set. She soon got into TV, film & voiceover, and continued to dive into as much theatre as she could, both in English and in French.
On-camera in France, Karen has shot films in all kinds of locations throughout Europe, from many artsy little indie projects, as well as big productions, working with icons like Gerard Depardieu, Jan Kounen, Polanski and Merchant & Ivory. She also appeared in many of the popular French TV series at that time.
Her major clients have included: Disney, HBO, Sony, Universal Pictures, Warner Brothers, Microsoft, Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Cartoon Network, Sci-Fi, Showtime, The CW, CBS, Hulu, Amazon Prime, AMC, Netflix, Klasky-Csupo, Viacom, THQ, Bandai, Atlus, Volition, Namco, Pioneer, Konami, Vivendi, VU Games, Square Enix Co, Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Technicolor, Disneyland, Lancôme, L'Oréal, Clarins, Vidal Sassoon, Acura, Kia, Hallmark, Mattel and Diet Coke.
Some of her favorite voiceover titles include: EVER AFTER HIGH, OK K.O.!, WINX CLUB, LEGO FRIENDS, 3BELOW: TALES OF ARCADIA, MONSTER, BLEACH, RUGRATS: ALL GROWED UP, STARCRAFT 2, WORLD OF WARCRAFT, ENDWAR, FINAL FANTASY, FALLOUT, PLAYMOBIL: THE MOVIE, EVERQUEST, FIRE EMBLEM, SILENT HILL, PERSONA, HEARTHSTONE, THE MUPPET MOVIE, BIOSHOCK 2, MONSTER HUNTER, CASTLEVANIA, ENCHANTIMALS, SHANTAE, RUMBLE ROSES, LEAGUE OF LEGENDS, MORTAL KOMBAT, CODE GEASS, SABOTEUR, STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC, TONY HAWK, VALKYRIA, STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN, HELSING, DEAD OR ALIVE, GHOST IN THE SHELL, HUNTERXHUNTER, THE SONIC GAMES, ZERO ESCAPE, LEGO DIMENSIONS, D.C. Brooke Stenz (a.k.a. Bebe Alkaid Cosplay) has been cosplaying since 2015, and is based out of Northern Michigan. Bebe has received several awards as a professionally recognized international cosplayer, including Indie Gamer Cosplay Creator in 2021. Bebe has made over 100 separate costumes to date, and has several more that are on the draft board. She pulls her inspiration from strong characters that inspire her. Bebe’s favorite designs include big foam armor sets that present artistic design challenges, yet contain intricate detail. She enjoys the presentation of WOW to her patrons and their guests.
Video games are where Bebe Alkaid’s heart finds the most inspiration for her designs. The complexity of video game fashions that have led to armor designed by Bebe Alkaid include World of Warcraft, Mortal Kombat, Legend of Dragoon, and so much more! Some of these designs have led to charity work relating to cosplay and video games, including the “Street Fighter tournament for Charity”.
Bebe Alkaid Cosplay has become a positive force in the community pushing for body positivity and how to feel comfortable in your own skin (and cosplays) amongst all individuals! She also loves teaching people about the many aspects of cosplay in her panels! Some include Builds on a Budget, Cosplay over 30, Foam 101 & Advanced Foamsmithing, Building Props and Weapons, and How To: Make-Up your Cosplay (SFX/ Glam/ Prosthetics/ Bodypaint).
Bebe Alkaid Cosplay has a multitude of published magazine covers, center spreads and television appearances across the country.
Bebe Alkaid Cosplay stands by the belief that you don’t have to be an award winner to make badass stuff!

The idea for the Michigan Spider Society came in 2018 when founder AJ Conte was invited to a Spider-Parade at Motor City Comic Con that year. This idea of bringing people from the Spider-Man fandom together inspired AJ to create the organization, originally called the Michigan Spider-People, in 2019 as a place for cosplayers from the Spider-Man fandom to discuss cosplay, share their suits, and meet up both at conventions and outside them to have fun together! In the years since, the group has had a name change, countless Spider-Parades, and expanded to over two-hundred members. Its largest gathering was at Youmacon 2023 when almost forty Spider-People came together for a meetup that was filled with lots of pictures, laughter, and plenty of pointing!
